Summary:Recent occurrence of oil crisis has pushed the endeavor in developing new synthetic fuel. One of the main interests in this development is Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, which is a technology to produce fuel from syngas result of biomass, natural gas, and coal gasification. Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is a catalytic reaction. The commercial catalyst used in the reaction are generally Fe-based and Co-based. Raw materials of the catalyst are abundant in Indonesia. In addition, Indonesia has abundant resources such as biomass, natural gas, and coal for conducting Fischer-Tropsch process. Hence, research of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis need to be conducted.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The purpose of this research is to acquire method of making Fe-based and Co-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, and also to acquire optimum operational condition for high conversion of reactant and high liquid hydrocarbon yield.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research is bounded on making of Fe-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst by means of precipitation method, making of Co-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst using impregnation method, and testing of catalyst activity in Fischer-Tropsch reactor system. The Cobased catalyst made by means of impregnation method succeeds in producing methane as Fischer-Tropsch product.
