Summary: | In the beginning of the globalization in this millennium era which have a tight competition need an advanced technology to survive. Therefore, it needs effeciency and effectivity. These things need supporting in any sectors, including from the university and the research institution so that can help the industry to develope their technology.
The purpose of this research is to get volume optimalization in pack carburizing with the 0,56 and 1,57 volume rasio which have high quality and economic price. The methode that have been used is did it with pack carburizing and heat treatment so that we will have an increasing in hardness at the surface and at the depth.
This process have done with active carbon and 10 %wt energizer BaCO3. This process cotiniouse at 950°C temperature and with the holding time for 2 hours and with the furnace cooling too. For heat treatments , we did on 850°C temperature for 3 minutes and continioue with water quenching. The result of heat treatment indicated a change in mechanical properties because of martensite phase forming.
This research has resulted that the volume rasio between carbong steel and arang for 1,57 will have a significant difference on ECD but not economically. |
