One of the problems is wastewater becoming larger in quantity. Most of this wastewater is treated using septic tank system and in fact many people wasting directly to the rivers. This behaviour will decrease the environmental quality. Therefore, a wastewater treatment plant is urgently needed. This wastewater treatment is expected to reduce water pollution in Musi River. This wastewater treatment plant is planned to cover 70% of city's population until the second planning (2028) with waste water flowrates of 1,373 m3/second. The population is projected using logaritmic method, resulting as many as 1.052.722 people in the end of the planing year (2028). The main parameter treated are BOD5 and TSS (according to KepMenLH No.112 year 2003), 311 mg/l for BOD5 and 248 mg/l for TSS with plan maximum capacity in the first planning is 1,114 m3/second and in the second planning is 2,279 m3/second. The treatment used in this WWTP are physical and biological treatment. There are three alternatives for biological treatment Complete Mix Activated Sludge(CMAS), Oxydation Ditch, and Rotating Biological Contactor(RBC). The best alternatives will be choosen from the effectivity and the present value of annual cost. From these aspects, the best system is Complete Mixed Activated Sludge that has the best effectivity. The system that will be used in wastewater treatment plant are bar screen and grit chamber for primary treatment, aeration tank and clarifier for the second treatment, gravity thickener and sludge digester fot the sludge treatment and chlorination tank for desinfection. The total cost which is needed to build this plant is estimated 27 billion rupiahs or Rp 17 millions per m3 per second wastewater flowrates. text |
