| Summary: | Cashew leaves is traditionally used to cure diarrhea, burn, skin disease, and diabetes mellitus. Research and publication of its chemical compounds are still limited. The goal of this research is to isolate one of its chemical constituents in n-hexane extract. Crude drug of cashew leaves was extracted by maceration method using n-hexane. N-hexane extract was fractionated with vaccum liquid and column chromatographies. Purification was conducted by preparative thin layer chromatography. Isolate was characterization by specific spray reagent, ultraviolet–visible and infrared spectrophotometries. Crude drug of cashew leaves showed the presence of flavonoid, tannin, quinone, and steroid/triterpenoid compounds. The isolate had been isolated from n-hexane extract, showed red-purple spot after sprayed by Liebermann-Burchard spray reagent. The isolate was supposed to be a triterpenoid having –OH, -CH aliphatic, and –C=O groups. |
