| Summary: | Padang Beach is coast which located directly with Indian Ocean. Becouse it is position, Padang beach always suffer decliring of coastline during the year by seawave. To overcome the coastline declination, there has been built groin, seawall and revetment alongside coast. Padang beach coastline which analyzed in this study strecthed out from Batang Arau river estuary until up to Batang Air Dingin river estuary. The purpose of the study is to identify the effectiveness of shore protection structure which located alongside of the studied area and to identify erosion pattern and sedimentation generated by the existence of coastal building and gives solution to erosion problem. Analysis performed within this study are tide analysis to determined elevation of building design, wave forecasting with input from knowly wind velocity data during 5 years (1998-2002) which obtained from BMG Tabing Padang Station to get height and period of planned waves and coastline change analysis by using GENESIS and SBEACH. From result of analysis could be determined that there are some groin at Padang beach not effective (filled with some sediment between groin) and for revetment which some it didn’t effective becouse already filled with sediment while some damage sewall that this need an improvement of it is construction form. |
