Dump body have to have good performance and safety to use.<p>In this research, loading analysis and stress analysis carried out on dump body structure under many operating condition. Dump body structure modeled and analyzed using software ANSYS 11. Load cases that modeled are:(1) truck retarding and turning, (2) truck accelerating, (3) truck twisting , (4) truck unloading, and (5) truck loading. The analysis afford the performance and safety factor of existing dump body structure. The results of analysis become a reference in modifying to obtain good performance and optimum weight of dump body structure.<p>The analysis results show that the existing dump body structure is not safety. Longitudinal stiffner and cross stiffner as the critical components where the maximum stress above the yield strength 350 MPa. The lowest safety factor 0.39 occur when the dump truck unloading. Dump body re-design include changing longitudinal stiffner to 25 mm thickness, add partition reinforcement on segment that contact with cross stiffner and changing the dimension of cross stiffner 1 and 2 near the hydraulic support to 14 mm thickness and add reinforcement plate on hydraulic support. Maximum stress occur on modified dump body structure is 343 MPa and the lowest safety factor 1.02. text
