Research of antimicrobial activity from this plants are still rare. The aim of this research is to verify the truth of antimicrobial activity of some Zingiberaceae plants. Extract of plants were made by reflux with ethanol 95% and examined the antimicrobial activity with broth diffusion assay. From nine extract of plants, there were six extracts gave activity to microbes. Extract of Hornstedtia sp. gave zone of inhibition to E.coli and S.aureus 16,5 +- 0,58 mm and 10,8 +- 0,45 mm with MIC 50 mg/mL. Extract of A. galanga (L.) Lour gave the zone of inhibition to C. albicans and A. niger 8,8 +- 0,4 mm and 19,4 +- 0,89 mm with MIC 25 mg/mL. Hornstedtia sp. was equal with 0,18 ug tetracycline HCl for E.coli, and with 0,03 ug tetracycline HCl for S.aureus. A. galanga (L.) Lour equal with 0,03 ug ketokonazole to C. albicans and 19,63 ug for A.niger. text
