Summary: |
Application of immobilized enzymes in biocatalytic practice offers unique advantages over soluble enzymes, such as enhanced activity, increased selectivity, improved stability, and reusability. The simplest method for enzyme immobilization is by using macroporous resin. In this work, Candida antarctica Lipase B (Cal-B) was immobilized onto macroporous epoxy resins which has been modified by various diamines, glutaraldehyde and 2-fluoroethylamine. The aim is to seek the best modification which will lead to a better performance of Cal-B activity. The macroporous epoxy resins modification was confirmed by FTIR and elemental analysis. Results from the hydrolytic activity test showed that smaller resins particle size lead to a better enzyme performance with the highest activity was achieved by glutaraldehyde modification with value of 6154.31 U/mg.
