Summary:Front end side in Wimax's OFDM is section where the trantition between analog and digital of symbol happen. This section also controls the quality of OFDM symbol before it can be transmite. The digital parts of front end section are cylic prefix adder module, spectrum shaper module and direct digital synthesizer module.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> The addition of cylic prefix needed to keep the orthogonality of symbol and it also facilitate the synchronization process in receiver.Spectrum shaping operation needed to reduce the spectrum leakage effect. Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) is core of IQ modulator, DDS generate two modulator signal which has 900 phase different and it has intermediate frequency (IF).<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> The designing process is started with high level language modeling. All the design is described in verilog HDL. The complete design will be synthesized using Altera Quartus 7.0, and will be implemented in altera FPGA cyclone DE II. Hardware level verification will be in circuit verification form, by using signal tap.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> The design result shows that spectrum shaping with raised cosine window can attenuate the spectrum of baseband signal to fit the Wimax's spectral mask, and the DDS design can give output with SFDR rate < 100 dBc based on simulation measurement.
