Summary: | Estimation of permeability can be obtained from permeabilty-porosity relationship when core measurement is not available. Permeability-porosity relationship show that the logarithm of permeability (log k) is often linearly proportional to porosity. On this classical crossplot, the relationship between permeability and porosity is not causal and no theoretical basis. Therefor, it can not be used to condition that has variance data, depended on rock type and its mineralogy. The concept of flow zone indicator that has characteristic of dinamic is used on this study. The objective of this study are to find effects of grain size and sorting to permeability and porosity relationship and to look for a correlation that can be used to better estimate permeability from porosity data. The result show that the increase in both porosity and permeability as best sorting progress and permeability is very affected by compaction mechanism. Besides, a method to estimate permeabilty from permeability and flow zone indicator relationship is proposed. |
