To determine ultimate load capacity of pile foundation there are many methods can be used, i.e. . method based on theoretical equation, empirical equation, dynamic theoretical equation and load transfer method using finite element method. To calculate the value of friction resistance between pile and soil with empirical method, until now, adhesive faktor (a) is often taken from foreign literature. Estimation of pile friction resistance will be very accurate if the value of a is taken from relevant soil testing results. This testing is carried out in two phase.fisrt, pile which is used smooth steel pile where skin of PVC ( mold) is not fitted with filter; second, it is used rough pile and the skin of PVC fitted with filter. The result of this testing are expected to be able, to show some factors which influenced value of adhesive faktor (a). So that a can be compared which investigation former scientists.The value of adhesive factor (a) on pile which obtained is less than a of driven pile value and almost close with value of a of boring pile that proposed by Tomlinson (1954,1970). The value of a of the pile is nearly the same with Duncan for driven wooden pile. The result of a value from this investigation is necessary to complete the next investigation and in design of pile foundation on soil soft clay. text
