Description
Summary:Textured polycrystalline piezoelectric materials are expected to provide improved properties compared to untextured ceramics, and low processing costs compared to single crystals. Textured polycrystalline piezoelectric ceramics were developed via Templated Grain Growth (TGG) by this research. In the TGG process, a number of large anisotropic template particles are oriented in a fine particle matrix in the green state, and grow during heat treatment, consuming the surrounding matrix grains and creating a crystallographically oriented ceramic. BaTiO3 matrix was synthezised by conventional solid-state process using BaCO3 and TiO2 raw materials. In the other hand, template particles was synthezised by hydrothermal process using Ba(OH)2 and TiO2 solution of 13-14 base pH to gain high aspect rasio of template particles. Tape casting process was conducted by 7:3 wt% matrix and template, respectively. The increase of textured fraction of grown crystal were observed by semiqualitative analysis through SEM along with increasing temperature during heat treatment and exxagerated grain growth were observed in 1200 degrees C specimen. The dielectric constant also tends to increased by increasing temperature. This research is an initial study to prepare textured piezoelectric ceramic.
