Description
Summary:Seismoelectric wave is a wave acquired for underground phenomenons by using the conversion of mechanical energy to electromagnetic energy according to electrokinetic effects mechanism. This wave is just recently discovered and has the ability to create and to complement earth exploration methods. Seismoelectric methods measure electric fields in fluid saturated rocks caused by seismic vibration. The sesimoelectric signal's amplitude is miniscule if compared to other signals and the noise that follows. By using sinusoidal methods, seismoelectric signals recorded are then processed to suppress the noise that is unwantedly recorded by subtracting the seismoelectric signal from the field data result from the synthetic noise signal after the frequency and the initial phase of the noise were acquired using Fourier Transformation.<p>This final assignment uses MATLAB Signal Processing Toolbox as the signal processing software. After the seismoelectric signal is free from noise contamination, a correlation between the initial data's amplitude and petrophysics factors like porosity, permeability and density, which are informations of underground conditions, can be acquired.
