Description
Summary:The only satellite sensor currently collecting global low-light imaging data suitable for mapping urban lighting is the US Air Force Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Operational Linescan System (OLS). Remote sensing technology was developed such DMSP-OLS night satellite which is have a unique imagery to detect an urban area at night time and able to produce the urban area map simply and quickly. Images were produced by night satellite also complete, accurate, straightforward, and economically.

The nightsat image data have processed using supervised classification method and density slicing method then it generated the urban area classification map of Java and Bali Island.

DMSP-OLS nightsat image data are able to detect urban area in Java and Bali Island.
