In food drying system, a heat exchanger is needed to supply hot air for the drying process. For this purpose a design of a heat exchanger with specific capacity should be made.<p>In this final project a heat exchanger is designed based on the result of an experiment for a certain type heat exchanger. The heat exchanger tested is a fin and tube heat exchanger with specification uncontinues finned flat tube surface 11.04-0.486. The outcome of the experiment is a graphic of the Reynolds number in relation to the Colburn factor J. We can also obtain a graphic that shows the correlation between e value and NTU for the tested heat exchanger. From the result of the experiment a software is made that can be used to design a heat exchanger based on the tested heat exchanger.<p>From the design of the heat exchanger we can obtain a heat exchanger with a certain dimension and capacity that is used in a food drying process. By entering specific parameter into the software, a calculation is done to acquire dimensions of the heat exchanger to be built. text |
