Based on research, Mucuna pruriens seed has anti Parkinson effect. There is only a few research about chemical content on this seed so that information about chemical compounds is very limited. The goal of this research is to study chemical content in Mucuna pruriens seed. Crude drug of velvet bean was extracted by maceration, then n-hexane extract was fractionated using vaccum liquid chromatography. Purification was conducted by preparative thin layer chromatography (TLC), and characterization isolate was performed by specific spray reagents, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry and infrared spectrophotometry. Crude drug of velvet bean showed the presence of alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, saponin, quinone and steroid/triterpenoid. Isolate S was isolated from n-hexane extract. Isolate S is supposed to be a isoflavone compound that has Ar-H, -OH, C=O, C=C, and -CH aliphatic groups. <br />
