Description
Summary:Bogor Municipality is facing rapid population growth. This condition affects on the increasing of urban infrastructure development in order to fulfill community needs and security such as housing, trade, industry, etc. Unfortunately, the development has not considered on environmental concept. The area of green open space decreases every year.
The goal of this research is to formulate management strategy of green open space based on physical condition, functional condition, and managerial equipment (regulations, procedures, institutional, and finance). It is conducted by identifying internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) and external factors (opportunities and threats) of green open space management in Bogor Municipality. Research is analyzed by SWOT matrix usage.
Result shows that existing green open space areas are quite large, amounting to 6,088.58 Ha or 51.38% of total Bogor Municipality area and distributed in all over the city. The number is still able to cover future green open space requirement based on area wide percentage (3,555 Ha) and population number prediction for the next 10 years (2007-2016) i.e. 13.22%-19.96%.
There are 13 types of green open space in Bogor Municipality i.e. city park; housing and residential park; office and commercial building park; botanical garden; borders of river, reservoir, lake, and spring; green area and landscape; street green lines; urban forest; public cemetery; urban agriculture area; sports field; and SUTET green lines. Each of them owns potential and problems on its management.
