The solubility test was carried out by adding an excess amount of trimethoprim to sulfamethoxazole solution, vice versa. The solubility of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim were determined by first derivative UV spectrophotometry at each zero-crossing wave length, the sulfamethoxazole zero-crossing wave length was 257 nm and trimethoprim 286 nm. The solubility of trimethoprim was not affected by presence of sulfamethoxazole solution. In contrary, the solubility of sulfamethoxazole increased by increasing trimethoprim concentration in the solution. <br /> text
