Description
Summary:Reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference phenomena are the main and attractive topics in optics and light. When a beam of light comes into different media some of the light are bounced and some other are biased. On the other hand a beam of light entering one or some narrow slits, tight apertures will yield bright and dark pattern on the screen behind the slits. The pattern is applicable in assisting students to understand the phenomena.
This final project designs simple equipments for showing the above phenomena, including equipment for measuring of index of refraction of material, wavelength of light and the width of single/double slits. The results obtained from the data analysis are: refraction index of glass 1.42, water 1.26 and akrilik 1.37, while single aperture width is 0.102 mm and double aperture is 0.389 mm. The wave applied has its wavelength of 641 nm. The discrepance with the literature data is between 4,5 % to 8,7 % indicating that the equipment is good enough for supporting teaching and learning in SMA/MA.
