Summary:Dissolved oxygen rate in fluids can be increased by using aeration system. Aeration systems are commonly used in fisheries and waste water treatment. There are several aeration system methods, one of which considered effective and efficient is venturi aerator.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> Venturi aerator is a venturi with holes in its throat that enable air to flow into the fluids stream. This phenomenon could occurred because fluid flow inside throat section have a vacuum pressure so atmospheric air could flows into the fluid stream without energy supply.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research was accomplished to find optimum venturi dimension that have maximum increase in dissolved oxygen rate. Varied variables in this research are throat length, size throat hole, and position of the hole. This experiment use a vertical venturi that have 12.7 cm length of convergen section, 38 cm of divergen section, and a throat section that varied between 1 and 5 cm. Observed parameter are oxygen concentration before and after aeration system that analyzed using iodometric method.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> Optimum venturi configuration found in this research is venturi with 5 cm length of throat section, throat hole size of 100 &#956;m, and centered hole placement.
