If this condition is continuously happening, a big catastrophe may soon happen. So, we need to find out another way in fulfill our needs of energy.<p>Wind power is a kind of renewable energy resources. Wind that blows can spin a wind turbine, while the turbine turns a generator. The generator then converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. The electricity is then be ready for many uses. This research is designing, manufacturing, and testing a wind energy conversion system (WECS) as a power supplier to billboard illuminator. Billboard as an outdoor advertising-media, consumes a considerable amount of electricity for its illumination. The use of wind turbine in billboard will also increase economical value of billboard, as its stopping power increases. The first step of the research has done by measuring the potency of wind energy in a certain location. Then aspects that influence the design of WECS, including the turbine and its generator were identified. By observing the nature conditions with available resources, some criterias of design were decided to be fulfilled. The turbine and generator were then manufactured and tested.<p> One of the products of this research is low rpm permanent magnet generator. The voltage can reach 100 V DC at 300 rpm (no load), and starts to charge 12 V battery at 45 rpm. Another product is the type H wind turbine. Unfortunately, the blade is not capable to rotate yet. This part of WECS needs further improvement in future. <br /> text
