FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE CONDET AREA PRESERVATION IN JAKARTA

The city development is an evolutional process which started from the begining until it's present form. At the end, city is an image of the population behaviour and activity. The evolutional process of the city take place with inluence from various kind of and internal and external condition which directed most of the development process. Cultural preservation is a manner that will give the city and it's population special meaning of understanding and education for the citizen about the history and city development. Preservation also keep the line between present and the past of the city. Jakarta has doing cultural and historical preservation of the city roots started in 1974 with the governor decision to promoted Condet as cultural sites with Betawi cultural based. Now the cultural preservation condition and activity has no longer appear in the region. Traditional houses has change into modern one, agricultural land change into residential dan trading area. The Betawi people now become minority in their own homeland.<p>The purpose of this research is to find factors that influence preservation area based on local culture. Factors that can be found hoped to become experience to other similiar area. The research is conduct in qualitatif methode with several kind of analysis to find the factors. The first is data reduction to sharpen the data and remove unnecessary records. The second is content analysis, this type of analysis is use to inference documents such as bill, enactment and city plan document. Most of the research are using descriptive analysis to illustrate factors which influence localy based areal preservation in Condet.<p>The result of this research showing that regulation which is enacted by local government for condet area are mostly on the stage of regulation and planning, but it does not follow by enough and good program perform on it. Local government mostly enacted the law but they don't give good solution for betawi etnic to preserve their agricultural way of life. Condet condition as an areal which is plan to be low density and agriculture area is influence by the sorounding region which is plan to become very high density with trading and business area. Infrastructure development in Jakarta, specially road and transportation, in sorounding region also create big impact for the changging on Condet Preservation Area. Community social changging like education, economic, job, and land ownership contribute change from the internal aspect. <br />
