The rise of sea level has significant impacts on coastal regions, one of them is used to determine a maritime country boundary which has main role on sovereignty boundary determination, natural resource usage, security guard, and region totality manisfetation. Up to now, in South China Sea region has relatively unresolved maritime boundaries between surrounding countries due to overclaims of the region ownership. For, the certainty of the boundaries has to be declared using a chart(s) with an adequate scales(s) or using list of geographical coordinates of points describing the real condition of the area which specify the geodetic datum.

A method to determine these maritime boundaries as an implication of sea level rise is uses tidal data recorded by tide gauge (3-45 years) at 22 tide gauge station in 6 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and People's Republic of China. The sources of the data are Bakosurtanal website, Joint Archive for Sea Level-University of Hawaii (JASL-UH) website, and Laboratorium Hidrografi Institut Teknologi Bandung. This research is focused on baseline identification as reference in maritime delimitation. The location of used chart datum locate on low water line along the coastline and each tide gauge station using a same vertical reference.

The results show that the chart datum moved horizontaly landward is about 0.001 degrees-0.015 degrees as an implication of the rate of sea level rise is about -0.15 ± 0.15 until 6.07 ± 5.7 cm/year. |
