Besides, the silica material is abundant nature resources, that make this material has special research concern.
In this research will focus on the process to produce silica aerogel by sol-gel method and drying by vacuum in the temperature range 30-40 oC. The sol-gel process take ratio (r) water/silica and pH as the main parameters. Ratio (r) held on 8, 15, and 20. pH held on 8,2 , 10,2 , and 12,3. Product of silica aerogel will define as the result of the variation.
XRD test shows peak with wide 2 theta region on 20 and 36 as the amorphous silica region. The two peaks after silica are intrusion peaks of NH4BF4 and NH4F. It decreases as ratio (r) water/silica and pH increases. FTIR test results shown that the absorbtion on Si-O-Si groups wavenumber present in the all r water/silica and pH variation samples. The wave number of -CH3 and -CH2 groups absorption that is ethanol compound found on the r 8 and pH 8,2 variation as results from condensation reactions and solvent. Silica aerogel has porous morfologi that showed from SEM photographs.
text
