This project concerns on the accomplishment upon the fuel. Higher cetane number, lower sulfur content and better detergency performance are some of demands of most nowaday. Diesel engines are designed in order to increase its efficiency, environmental friendly with high performance. Because of that, diesel fuel properties need to be developed and improved. This final assignment begins the investigation by disclosing some basic theory related to the diesel engine and the fuel, the explanation about the quality performance as well. Fuel properties become important due to the properties define its quality. Fuel quality can be obtained by several method which has been well validated. This assignment tries to compare the performance between diesel and biodiesel. Different kind of fuel such as 5% biofuel content in diesel (B05), 10% biofuel (B10), 20% biofuel (B20) were selected for this investigation. The effect of additive-added is investigated as well. Dinamometer-engine was used to measure the performance such as Specific Fuel Consumption and Thermal Efficiency with a load range of 0-60 Kg.m. The desire engine which is convinient aplicated in these fuel examination is a medium speed diesel engine commonly involved in industry. It was found that B00 added additive by 1560ppm shows better overall performances This is mainly due to the effect of fuel additive in the blended fuel of B00. The effect of additives vary in defferent trend associated with deffrent combination compound of Pertamina DEX and biofuel. The specific objective of this investigation is to develop the performance of biodiesel blended additive-added. Hereby, it can increase biodiesel application as a solution anticipating the extinction of petro fuel.
