THE ANALYSIS OF THE CHANGE OF AGRICULTURAL LAND FUNCTION RELATED TO THE FOOD SUSTAINABILITY (CASE STUDY IN THE AREA OF PANTAI UTARA JAWA BARAT)

The use of agricultural land use is needed to fulfill the food need for human being. As a result of the increase on land need, because of the population growth, the change of the agricultural land function will take place. As the center of rice production and as the buffer area of Jakarta, the area of Pantai Utara Jawa Barat has highly developmental activities. The fact cause the use of agricultural land tend to change its function continuously and uncontrollably. The control of the change of agricultural land function has not succeeded yet although many policies have been made but the implementation is not maximal. Therefore, the subject should be researched to find out the consideration material to control the change of the agricultural land function for supporting food sustainability.<p>The data of land use in the form of digitalized map 1998 and 2006 are overlaid to find out the change of agricultural land function by using reclassification. The variables of population, land width, the amount of rice production are analyzed statistically by using pearson product moment method.<p>In the period of 1998-2006, the change of the agricultural land function happened in the amount of 75,736.06 Ha, with the width of agricultural land 503,947.24 Ha. The substraction reach 15.03% for 8 years or 1.88% each year at rate. The kinds of the change of agricultural land function, namely, the land becomes residential area, garden, field, plain, land irrigation and opened land. There is no relationship between population and land width in Kabupaten Bekasi in 1988 while there is a moderate relationship in Kabupaten Kerawang, Subang, Indramayu and Cirebon. There is no relationship between population and land in Kabupaten Bekasi and Kerawang in 2006 while there is moderate relationship in Kabupaten Subang, Indramayu and Cirebon. The relationship between the variables of agricultural land width and the amount of rice production in 1998 and 2006 for all Kabupaten have close relationship. <br />
