The land cover in the earth's surface always changes from time to time. The local government as the authority in the land cover alteration management has issued already a number of state regulations concerning the space planning regulations. With these state policies created, hopefully the pattern of the land cover changes in such a region can be controlled properly. For the purfose of finding the answer of the matter mentioned above, a research was traying to do to find out how strong the correlation between the state policy and the pattern of the land cover alteration occurrence.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The method of the research was done by an overlaying process between land cover data of different period that are 1994 and 1997 including space planning data, authorization data, and administrative boundary data in the study area. Then the analysis was done by identifying the pattern of the land cover changes between the regional space planning plan (RTRW) and the accomplishment of the land authorization to find out the pattern of the land cover alteration occur which is inclined by the state policy.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The result of the research shows that the influence of the state policy towards the process of the land cover alteration in the year of 1994/1997 has a small contribution. In other words, the process of the land cover alteration that occurred in the period of 1994/1997 was look as if to be uncontrolled.
