Description
Summary:Blood pressure is an important parameter in the diagnosis of one's health. Continuous blood pressure measurement will be necessary in monitoring the physical changes of a patient admitted to a healthcare institution. However, this important process will be obstructed if the aforementioned institution suffers from the lack of essential medical instrument and human resources. To counter the problem, by utilizing a general feature posessed by most digital blood pressure measurement equipment to transfer measurement data to a PC for further storage and study, the design of a radio frequency-based interface module is proposed to simplify the whole measurement process through the use of wireless connection. By eliminating the constraint of cables, the limited range between the measurement instrument and the PC can be extended. Thus, allowing more efficient use of the instrument for the monitoring of multiple patients. To make further use of this interface, a method to remotely initiate the measurement process and directly store its data to a remote PC is also devised.
