Description
Summary:Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is an attractive technique for achieving high bit rate wireless data transmission which can solve Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) problem. However, OFDM suffers from large Peak to Average Power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signal. Large PAPR causes undesirable effects such as signal distortion and unwanted out of band radiation when operating in nonlinear device such as High Power Amplifier (HPA) and Digital to Analog Converter (DAC).<p>There are several methods to solve large PAPR problem. Basically, these methods add some processing block in OFDM signal block. First method distorting the OFDM signal, another method add code, and the last method scrambling each OFDM symbol to reduce PAPR.<p>In this final project, we will use randomizer block which already exist in OFDM block. The effect of randomizer generator to PAPR will be simulated in this final project. It is shown by using a simple OFDM simulation in MATLAB.<p>The performance of simulation result is determined by Complement Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF) curve. We can see from the curve that randomizer could reduced PAPR about 2 dB and the PAPR value will have average about 5-6 dB. This could prove usefull for amplifier effectiveness.
