In PEMFC polymer membrane is used as proton transfer electrolyte. In this research, sulfonated polystyrene was reacted with 4% divinylbenzene (DVB) to form crosslink in chain of PSS-DVB. Polyblend was made by blending of PSS-DVB with lignosulfonat (LS) in various composition. The polystyrene used in this research was obtained from isolation of styrofoam. The sulfonation on polystyrene and the addition of LS are expected to increase SO3H group as a proton transfer on polymer. The addition of DVB on polyblend of PSS-LS is expected to incease in mechanicalproperties of membrane. Membranes were characterized with FTIR analysis, TG/DTA analysis, X-Ray diffraction, ion exchange capacity, conductivity, optical microscopic image, tensile strength and swelling. The results showed that membrane with LS composition of 7.5% has the highest IEC, conductivity, tensile strength, swelling value. The increase of LS composition in polyblend, thermal stability of polyblend increases. <br /> text |
