Description
Summary:Groundwater is a water resources that is vital for human life. In addition to meeting basic human needs, water can also be used for the agriculture and the industry. Equality interests often lead to the emergence of conflict between the needs of the community with the industry so that it can be said that groundwater has several functions, namely as a function of the social (the community needs), economic (industrial) and environmental support resources.

Northern Sukabumi Regency has a very good potential of groundwater. Not surprisingly, when this area is growing rapidly into the bottled drinking water industry (AMDK). Manufacturers of bottled drinking water and many garment industries - have made groundwater exploitation.

The increasing of groundwater demand by industries could cause the lowering groundwater level. Therefore, the study more focused on groundwater system modeling in these locations and groundwater level analyzing.

The simulations illustrate that groundwater flow has a few change, especially on locations where the accumulation of groundwater pumping occurs. The northern location of area study has most significant changes in groundwater flow. Groundwater level decrease more than 20 meter at the location in surrounding area of PT. ABC and PT. XYZ, which has ± 226,304 m2 of area. The daily average of wells pumping in the PT. XYZ is estimated to reach 1378 m3/day and PT. ABC 1365 m3/day (prediction at 2011). The lowering groundwater level is caused by large amount of groundwater pumping and relatively close distance between wells. These conditions potentially create social conflict which will caused difficulties for the people to access the groundwater which located in unconfined aquifer.
