Indirect method can be an alternative way in developing the analysis since its quantitative characteristic so will take a shorter time on analysis.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> One of indirect methods that can be alternative in developing analysis is CTimage (Computed Tomography) analysis method. CT-image is a result from the process of scanning by using X-Ray CT Scanner. Scanning method by X-Ray CT Scanner is a kind of method which involves some layers or 2D slices from X-Ray radiography which can be reconstructed by 3 dimensions and developed by using ImageJ software. This determination is expected to give information about the distribution of coal main component and impurities mineral.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> CT-image analysis was done in CT-image of coal Seam Q, R, and T Berau-subbasin in Lati Mining, East Kalimantan. Analysis was considered to determine the genre and to quantify the coal and impurities mineral component based on the grouping of CT value by using density approach. The result of this analysis was interrelated with the spreading of coal's quality from the interpolation process of drill hole data, which could be used to estimate the characteristics of coal and its quality. Validation for kinds of impurities mineral that was detected from CT-image analysis was developed with the analysis result of XRD (X-Ray Diffraction).<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research gave some results, such as the using of water to get corrected CT value could minimize cupping effect but the result was not optimal yet so it required further investigation. Detected impurities mineral on Seam T Botton and T Middle sample had density range on 1,9-2,0 gr/cm3. Based on XRD validation, the kind of impurities mineral is silicon oxyde. The classification of coal structure component based on CT value could be developed for the distribution estimation of coal structure component and porosity. The results gave a conclusion that X-Ray CT method can be an indirect alternative method in the determination of the component of coal main structure and impurities mineral. text |
