Description
Summary:Corrosion is decreasing of metal quality which is caused not only by direct contact with corrosive environment but also can be induced by microorganism. In the oil and gas company, crude oil and wet gas are flown by carbon steel from drilling well to processing. Control of corrosion happened on the surface steel of pipeline is done by addition of corrosion inhibitor continually. Generally, organic compounds contained nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen are their binding anchor on the surface of metal. Penicillin and its derivatives are well-known as antibiotics, have three elements on its molecule so can be strongly absorbed on carbon steel surface. This research used amoxicillin and ampicillin as corrosion inhibitor. Corrosion inhibition tests were done by corrosion wheel test, electrochemocal impedance spectroscopy and Tafel method with variation of temperature amd concentration of inhibitor. Result of corrosion inhibition test for penicillin derivatives on the 55oC is 10 ppm amoxicillin having the highest inhibition with inhibition efficiency reached 83,00%. <br />
