Description
Summary:In heavy crude oil transportation ambient temperature plays big role in fluid flow performance. This is because the decrease of temperature will increase the oil viscosity so that the oil will flow with higher resistance. In this study the pressure and temperature profile along the transportation pipe will be analyzed. The model that will be studied is a simple model with such several data made manually so that it will be representative and valid enough to be simulated. There are two solutions in this simulation; they are heater and insulation pipe. They both have the same purpose which is maintaining the fluid temperature inside the pipe. Those solutions are expected to avoid fluid temperature decrease below its cloud point and the inlet pressure does not increase too high because of ambient temperature change. There are three kind solutions for heater and three kind of pipe insulator. Pressure and temperature profile from each solution will be discussed and compared. In the end the best solution will be chosen and of course by also considering the economic aspect.
