AMD with low pH and high metal contents can contaminate the environment if it is not managed well.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> AMD management is done with two methods, the prevention of AMD through preventive and management methods with the AMD treatment. PTBA has performed with the active management of the KPL in limestone which is indicated of AMD to increase pH and dissolved decrease assay. This method is success in managing the AMD to meet the standard quality environment. This method has many lacks. In addition to costs, which are relatively large, this method can't minimize the forming of AMD for the long term, especially when the mine closure.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> Although the management of AMD has been done with very good, there's still chance of a failure in the management, which means it can contaminate river. Risk analysis is required to view the risk environment faced. Catchment area approach is used to view the risk to analyze the source of AMD in the mines and piles of receptor (the recipient).<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> There are two areas that include catchment area's PTBA Tanjung Enim, which each have their own special characteristics. Outlet catchment area is Lawai River and Enim River. Measuring risk with the view downstream shows that the sensitivity on the risk catchment River area Enim is higher than catchment area Lawai River.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> Risk control can be done by minimizing the forming of AMD with the prevention way by using preventive methods, namely with the dry cover or pit backfill. Other steps can be done to reduce the chance of environmental pollution occurrence with passive treatment. text
