Description
Summary:In recently year biodegradable plastics are very interesting topics. One of synthetic polymer used as row material for plastic is polystyrene (PS). Polystyrene has been made to have properties that are resistant to photo- and bio-degradation in environment. These properties can cause environmental problems because PS is difficult decomposed by microorganisms. The aim of the experiments is designed to improve the properties of PS as well as by blending with biodegradable polymers. In this work, polystyrene used was isolated from plastic waste of styrofoam and modified by sulfonation reaction to increase polarity of polystyrene, so that it can form homogenous polyblends with PCL that is one of synthetic biodegradable polymers. <br />
