Coal liquefaction catalyst performance can been seen from active phase crystal size of pyrrohtite (Fe(1-x)S), where the greater of crystal size pyrrohtite the low the reactivity causing the low of coal amounts which can be liquefied. The Purpose of this research is to study the usage influence of South Kalimantan iron ore as nature catalyst bases on iron to coal liquefaction product and coal liquefaction conversion percent directly if its compared with tailing PT. XYZ. From the coal liquefaction experiment done indicates that the size from catalyst influential to recovery of product and coal liquefaction conversion. In general recovery of product and coal liquefaction conversion shows improvement along with the smaller catalyst scale, where for smallest size iron ore catalyst - 325# yields best liquefaction with heavy oil product 65,07 % and asphalten 19,13%. Coal liquefaction with iron ore catalyst at ratio S/Fe = 2 yields recovery the best product and conversion with conversion at N-heksan 65,07 and toluen 84,20%. The bigger ratio S/Fe shows the smaller result of coal liquefaction. Result of experiment of sulfidization indicates that temperature and catalyst material influential to crystal size pyrrohtite formed. At iron ore catalyst happened improvement of crystal size pyrrohtite along with the increasing of temperature where the biggest pyrrohtite crystal size for iron ore catalyst is at temperature 425 degrees C. While catalyst tailing PT. XYZ different temperature tends to not to have an effect on to pyrrohtite crystal size. Iron ore catalyst having smaller pyrrohtite crystal size is better than catalyst tailing PT. XYZ. text |
