| Summary: | Indonesia has a lot of biodiversity, there are rare and protected animals such as elephant. Remained species at this time is African elephants (Loxodonta africana) and Asian elephants (Elephas maximus). Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus) is one of four Asian elephants subspesies in Indonesia. These animals almost extinct due to wild hunting and habitat destruction. Therefore, other than habitat destruction and wild hunt prohibition, genetic analysis is also needed to know familial relationship and to complete database in GenBank. The research includes lisis elephant's hair cells, amplification with PCR, agarose gel visualization and DNA sequencing. Results of this research indicates 0.45 kb band and 420 bp of elektroforegram. In silico analysis showed six mutations S1 in compared to Mammoth and Asian elephants. Obtained nucleotide sequences will be uploaded to GenBank in order to be a reference for other. <br />
