Summary: | Macaranga is one of largest genera that consisting of about 300 spesies and distributed in Africa, West Madagaskar, Asia, North Australia, and East Pasific island. This kind of plant is included in Euphorbiaceae family, and has been known that is can be used as a traditional medicine for threated cough, dysentry, and illness. The literature describes that metabolit secondary of isolated and identified from this genus usually are phenolic derivates including flavonoid and stilben. One of the endemic spesies that can be found in Indonesia is Macaranga trichocarpa that distributed from Birma, South Indocina, Malaysia peninsula and Kalimantan island. There are just limited information about the chemical compounds from this plant, so we isolated and identified all the chemical compound from the leaves of M. trichocarpa. For this purposes, the series of laboratory work have been conducted, which are extraction, fractionation, and purification using various of chromatography techniques. The molecular structures of the compound have been characterized and identified using spectroscopic UV, IR, and NMR techniques. In this research, there are two pure compounds have been characterized from methanol extract from M. trichocarpa leaves. They are makatrikokarpin A, and ramnositrin that are flavonoid derivatives. In the reality, it is the first time founding ramnositrin which is flavonoid compound from one kind of Macaranga, it is just found from isolated genus Nigella, Alomia, and Anthylis. <br />
