| Summary: | Bangka-Belitung region consisting of Bangka, Belitung regency, and Pangkalpinang municipality has relied on the tin mining as the prime mover for their income of economy. This has dated since hundreds of years ago. This tin mining activity has resulted in the high income and employment of the region. At present the mining activity has shown a declining trend, particularly on the tin reserve and its price that fluctuates in the international market. This sliding trend shows up since the closing of tin mining pits along with the restucturing done by Tambang Timah Company since 1991. To maintain the region's economy a study is needed to find factors that influence the region development, particularly to maintain or even to improve the economy growth. In relation to that, this study is done to determine the prospect of the economy development activities in the non-mining sector after the closing of tin mining pits in Bangka-Belitung region and their implications. To reach the objective of the study, the study approach and thinking framework are base on the theoritical study, and the research of the region's characteristics and potentials. The analysis used in this study includes the quantitative and qualitative analysis. The quantitative analysis is emphasised on the description of the natural resources development by employing the trend, shift and share, and location quotient analysis. In addition, the qualitative analysis is employed particularly to analyze the geographical location of Bangka-Belitung region and its surroundings while at the same time taking into account its market oriented. <br />
