Summary: | PGN is one of BUMN that moved in the downstream sector of natural gas as the company that distributed, developed and made use of natural gas for the interests of the industry, commercial and the household. As the provider's company of foremost natural gas energy in Indonesia, PGN was brought face to face with the condition where the competition in the natural gas industry increased as one of the impacts of the rise in the price of Fuel Oil and the government support for the use of natural gas as alternative energy to the replacement BBM.<p>Oil regulations and Natural Gas No.22 year 2001 brought the very basic change, because of the perpetrators of Government Owned Company (BUMN), private enterprise and foreign company received the same opportunity openly to expand efforts in the downstream gas that included transport efforts, the trade, the storage and the processing through the application of the mechanism of the market. This condition triggered PGN to work faster and targeted. PGN had the advantage of superiority of competitiveness (competitive advantage), so PGN has ability to meet the requirement for large amount of gas in the country and maintained the position as the leader of the market in the transmission field and the distribution of natural gas. <p>Although, up to now PGN is still becoming the leader of the transmission market and the distribution of gas in the homeland, the condition for the environment that always changed pushed a company to formulate a business strategy that suits in the condition that was experienced by PGN. The exact business strategy was needed by PGN as the company that provided, developed and made use of gas in the interest of the public to continue to grow in achieving the vision, the mission and the goal of the company. The formulation of this business strategy also became very important considering the competition environment that became increasingly complex. <p>The formulation of the business strategy that planned systematically became something that essential to increase the superiority of lasting competitiveness (Sustainable Competitive Advantage), that suit with the vision, the mission and the goal of the company. With the condition of healthy company and able to compete, PGN could distribute gas by more for the domestic requirement. |
