Description
Summary:Water is one of primary manship needs. Quantity and quality of water is needed to pay attention. Geological and anthropological activities affected quantity and quality of water locally. Gold-epithermal deposits is one of arsenic sources and if it is crossed by the path of water, there would be arsenic dissolved on water of the aquifer system. MESEL-LEON gold-epithermal, in South-East Minahasa regency, was crossed by the path of Buyat river. It indicated that water of aquifer system might be infected by arsenic.

Hydrology cycle had the main role of the existance of waters in a area locally. Hydrology cycle consists of some main processes, such as precipitation, surface runoff, evapotransporation, and infiltration. The processes were affected by basic characteristic of water, media or environment of water, and energy level differences. Processes of hidrology cycle influence quantity and quality of water in a area locally. Arsen is one of hazardous metal in the water usage. One of standard drinking water quality, as Health Minister Regulation No. 907/MENKES/SK/VII/2002, tells water should not have dissolved arsenic more than 0.01 mg/l.

Field survey and samplings, laboratory analyzing to samples, collecting and processing of datas, and analyzing to whole datas indicated that groundwater from sampling pits were not recomended as drinking water usage, because the arsenic concentration and/or manganese concentration on it are more than the limitation as standard drinking water usage. A quartery alluvium and lake sediments aquifer system had main role in the research area. Distribution of dissolved arsenic on groundwater in the research area did not follow the direction of groundwater path. Dissolved arsenic on groundwater was formed in reduction condition, influenced by existence of manganese(II) in sediments, and clay-minerals in aquifer materials.
