Summary:Liquid effluent containing large number metal ion, can be treated using. Ceramic membrane can be used to separate a metal ion, in a liquid effluent. In this research, composite membrane bentonit-MCM-41 was used to separate cadmium (II) and chromium (VI). MCM-41 is material having hexagonal pores, looks like honeycomb. The application of MCM-41 is appropriate due to the aptness diameter of membrane's of pores. MCM-41 was synthesized by heating on 110oC for 96 hour and calcinated on 540oC. In this experiment, MCM-41 was used as selective layer upon bentonite membrane the last material plays role as support membrane. Bentonite is abundant material in nature, having a positive charge, and frequently chosen as starting material (precursor) in a prime material ceramic synthesis. The bentonite membrane was calcined on 1100oC.
