Description
Summary:The phenomenon of inter aquifer transfer through aquifer leakage in the Bandung groundwater basin has long been suspected. Verification of the flow phenomenon has been done by previous researchers using tracer method. The problem examined here is a large leakage flow that may become recharge of stressed aquifer in the multi semi unconfined aquifer system. Research on the inter aquifer transfer was based on the simulation of aquifers ini Bandung groundwater basin using Modflow software version 3.1. to calculate rate of flow through aquifer leakage phenomenon. The hydraulic parameters of each aquifer, which indicates leaky aquifer was obtained from pumping test according to Hantush Walton Method. Based on hydraulic conductivity and log of drilling, aquifers in the Bandung groundwater basin have been divided into three, namely : 1.) upper aquifer (unconfined aquifer) with depth of 0-45 m below surface, 2). middle aquifer (semi confined-confined aquifer) with depth of 50-135 m below surface, 3). lower aquifer (semi confined–confined aquifer) with depth > 150 m below surface Based on simulation of aquifers in Bandung groundwater basin using Modflow software version 3.1. it can be showed that in upper groundwater basin the flow of leakage occurs from upper aquifer (through upper aquitard) to middle aquifer with rate 186,208 m3/day downward. In lower goundwater basin the flow of leakage occurs from lower aquifer (through lower aquitard) to middle aquifer with rate 31,400 m3/day upward.
