WATER TANK EMPTYING TIME PROBLEM A PERSPECTIVE FROM THE GEOMETRIC OF THE TANK AND INVERSE PROBLEMS
This Project discuss two problems. Both use Torricelli's law in physics. The first problem can be formulated as follow. Several water tanks are filled with water. The tanks have different shapes, but they have the same height and volume. A small hole is made at the bottom of the tank. The quest...

Summary: | This Project discuss two problems. Both use Torricelli's law in physics. The first problem can be formulated as follow. Several water tanks are filled with water. The tanks have different shapes, but they have the same height and volume. A small hole is made at the bottom of the tank. The question is which tank empty faster. The first step is to make a mathematical model in order to determine the coefficient of emptying time. Then we determine the coefficient of emptying time of several shape of the tank in order to determine which tank have minimal emptying time.<p>The second problem, is about inverse problems. Given several example of inverse problems that involve the water tank emptying time and Torricelli's Law. We shows that the problems may have nonuniqe and unstable solutions. |
