Summary: | Physics teaching at high school is intended to provide a foundation for sciences an technology. In reality, quality of physics teaching at high school level is far from satisfactory, especially at topics that required higher level of imagination and abstraction such as equilibrium of rigid bodies. As a result, many students acquire misconception on these topics. To solve this problem, software package Pioneer is developed. This tool is a computer-based physics teaching media stored in a compact-disc (CD). This package contains materials on equilibrium of rigid bodies that supplemented by demonstration videos and animation. These supplements are intended to help the students in understanding the topic. Pioneer software package has a special feature not available in other multimedia packages, i.e., simulation programs. With these programs, students could change the physical parameters and observe the results on other parameters. Pioneer software package is also equipped with demonstration videos and problem sets that students could use to check their understanding. This software package has been tested on students of AL FALAH High School in Bandung. The understanding level of students has increased by 16.73 (in 0-100 scale) after they used Pioneer. |
