Whereas for Java island, earthquake rare happens and the radius even also smaller. However, in Java island also at any times can happen a very big earthquake, and even some were followed by a tsunami. It is still necessary for further investigation of deformation patterns in Java and Sumatra.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> GPS already many are used to study earth dynamics (geodynamics) such as those which relate to faults movement and also continent plates, later on used to predict the earthquake or volcanic eruption [Sato and Shimada, 1993 ; Shimada and Imakiire, 1993 ; Segall and Davis, 1997]. The points data observation in the south Sumatera island and west Java island then processed by scientific software Bernese, then performed the calculation the displacement vector and value of strain parameter, so the strain analysis can be done.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Based on the displacement value of the points observation, south of Sumatera island have the horizontal displacement about 1-5 cm/year with dominant direction to the east and west of Java island about 1-6 cm/year with dominant direction to the south-east. Based on the results of strain patterns, south of Sumatera island and west of Java there are dominant strain. Deformation in west of Java influenced by activity Cimandiri Fault and deformation in south of Sumatera influenced by activity Sumatera Fault.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Strain Analysis in this final assignment, analysis of strain condition between south of Sumatera and west of Java based on the GPS data observation to identify deformation pattern so it's can be predict the position and plate movement in Sumatera and Java in the future. text
