In it’s operation, wind power plant direct connected to 20 kV distribution line, parallel with diesel generators. This system known as hybrid wind-diesel. In the hybrid power system, where the power output of wind power generated depends on the condition of wind speed to turn the turbine. This thesis aims to analyze the impact of fluctuations in wind power output of the voltage and frequency stability of the system with a computer simulation models.
The analysis is done by building a model of hybrid systems using the software matlab/Simulink. The models were simulated with the input conditions to the turbine wind speed change with constant load and load conditions are changing at a constant wind speed. Application also simulated with a dump load frequency control system. Economic analysis conducted to evaluate the impact of wind power integration into the diesel generator to system cost of energy, diesel fuel savings cost, reduced emissions of CO2, SO2 and NOX of wind-diesel power system compared with diesel generators only as a baseline. The analysis carried out with a spreadsheet model of two cases of hybrid systems.
Simulation results show that changes in wind speed as input and wind turbine load changes greatly affect to the system’s frequency and voltage. The increase in magnitude for the highest frequency 1:05 pu for 0.5s during reduced load 50%. The increase occurred at a similar frequency of wind speed increases dramatically. Greatest voltage dip of 0.75 pu for 0.2 s at wind power plants connected together. Economic analysis to the case compared to only 2 turbines diesel system resulted in increased energy costs system (COE) from USD 2.967 / kWh to $ 3.042 / kWh. Fuel savings with two turbines of 38.137 liters a year. Fuel savings equivalent to the reduction of CO2, SO2 and NOX by 1.68%.
text
