Summary: | Previous research showed that the Al2O3, synthesized hydrothermally in an autoclave bombs at high temperature and pressure, is a good solid support for Cu-based catalysts in steam reforming of methanol. In this study, Cu-based catalysts, which is Cu/CeO2/Al2O3, was synthesized using impregnation method in which solution containing Cu(II) and Ce(III) nitrates was added dropwise onto Al2O3 prepared hydrothermally. X-ray diffraction difractogram confirmed the presence of CuO, CeO2 and Al2O3 on the synthesized solids. SEM imaging shows that Cu/CeO2/Al2O3 particles are nanosheets. The activity of the synthesized Cu/CeO2/Al2O3 catalyst in steam reforming of methanol, represented as %-conversion of methanol, is 32,15% at 225 oC. This activity is less than that of the Cu/CeO2/Al2O3 catalysts prepared hydrothermally. |
