| Summary: | Asphalt or bitumen is the primarily used for paving roads. Nowaday, petroleum asphalt plays an important role in world market. The increasing price of petroleum have the impacts an asphalt price. Asphalt Buton (a natural asphalt in the Province of South East of Sulawesi) might be used as an alternative asphalt for paving road material. It is unfortunate that the utilization of Asbuton has not been optimized yet. In this work, asphalt content of Asbuton was extracted using turpentine as a solvent. The result showed that in the presence of span 80 as surfactant additive increase the solubility of asphalt in the solvent. The experiment carried out using asphalt centrifuge extraction method which comply with the ASTM D 2172. <br />
